For those of you who didn’t make it to Brooklyn Beta this video will make you even more jealous of all the amazing stuff you missed, and for all you awesome people who were there you can now relive the experience over and over until next year. If you don’t already know about it, Brooklyn Beta is the worlds greatest web event right here in our fair city. In what many would argue is the greatest borough. Brooklyn. Cameron Koczon(aka @fictivecameron) and Chris Shiflett from Studiomates in Dumbo put together this conference as an argument for why web conferences didn’t need to be so far away and plagued by boring panel discussions. Also a major shout out to Captain & the Fox for their amazing work on this video.

The one promotional emailer I never seem to dread, and always open is that from the good folks of Tattly. This week I was happy to see a couple of great new seasonally appropriate designs. My new personal favorite are the Wintery Trees, designed by Josh Smith.
My friend and mentor Tina Roth Eisenberg who most of you probably only know by her moniker swissmiss has launched her newest and in my opinion most inventive project to date. Yesterday Tattly launched in beta and today it goes live for the rest of the world! An online store for “Designy temporary tattoos” as their tagline puts it carve out an awesome little niche in growing market of goods by designers for designers. The tattoos are designed by contemporary greats like Frank Chimero, Jason Santa Maria, Chris Glass, Jessica Hische and many more. Who by the way are all personal friends of Tina. Could this woman get any more impressive? Yes she can. Her other projects in addition to her blog include Creative Mornings, teuxdeux, Icebreakertags, and hopefully a whole slew of other cool projects in the future.
My friends over at Studiomates always seem to be doing the coolest stuff around. Right now Oak Studios is counting down to the launch of their new site. Literally. Their homepage has been transformed into a digital clock counting down to a zero hour in the near future. I am so excited to see the final product, I just have to make sure the anticipation doesn’t get the better of me.
My friend Skylar Challand of oak is the genius behind this revolutionary new bookmarking and sharing tool dropmark. Dropmark combines a lot of the features I love in Gimme Bar with a little be more focus on data ownership, which I really appreciate. They also have a handy little API so you can use your data and dropmarks in anyway you would like.

Here is a little roundup of my favorite quotes from today’s Creative Mornings, with design legend and all around inspirational thinker Milton Glaser. Check out more photos from the event in the Creative Morning’s Flickr Pool. If you have any other quotes that resonated with you please leave them in the comments section and I would love to add them to the post.
“Certainty is a closing of the mind. To create something new you must have doubt.”
“Fail more often in order to find out what you’re capable of learning.”
“Color is one of those subjects you never fully learn.”
“Failure and ambiguity are hard concepts to sell to a client who just wants to sell more cans of tomatoes.”
“The act of making things that move the mind is our deepest aspiration in seeking the miraculous.”
- Milton Glaser
The long awaited Teux Deux app for iPhone released yesterday and I think I can speak for everyone when I say Teux Deux has officially changed my life for a second time. This is the first of what will hopefully be a series of collaborations between swissmiss (amazing swiss designer gone nyc and famed blogger) and Fictive Kin (creative web-developing powerhouse). You can grab the app. for stiflingly cheap $2.99 in the iTunes app. store. So go get your productivity on!
My studio-mates Fictive Cameron and Chris Shiflett are putting together a free conference for web designers, developers and entrepreneurs here in NYC, Brooklyn to be exact. Brooklyn Beta promises to be an outstanding new conference with an already impressive line up. Block out October 21st and 22nd on your calendar and signup.
And more to come…
