Experimental Rebrand for American Airlines

Unsolicited re-designs have grown in popularity over the last few years and are ever-present on design blogs today. Whether they are student projects or self initiated ones by designers looking to work on something without the restrictions of client work. This type of design can yield some interesting and inspiring work. Anna Kovecses did one such rebrand for American Airlines, which has been floating around on the web for the past month or so. Albeit very trendy and incorporating some contemporary design cliches the overall package has a certain classicism to it, which I really enjoy. The aspirational imagery and the hyper modernist type palette combine for a wonderful aesthetic, but are so obviously not what a major commercial airline would go for. At least not for anything beyond a small marketing campaign.
